Made to Order

Each Veblenist strap is crafted specifically for you in our Chicago workshop. Production begins only after your order is placed, so each strap is made to your chosen leather, dimensions, and specifications.

Made-to-order craftsmanship takes time and care. Please allow approximately 7–14 business days (about 2–3 weeks) for production before your order ships. More complex customizations may take additional time.

Shipping & Returns

We offer complimentary shipping on all U.S. orders, and complimentary DHL Express on international orders of $199 or more.

Standard (non-custom) straps can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery; a $20 restocking fee applies to returns, and cancellations are subject to a $20 cancellation fee.

Customized straps are crafted specifically for their future owner, and are therefore final sale.

FAQ

What's included?

  • The watch strap (both the buckle side and the adjustment-holes side)
  • A tang buckle (as shown in the product images), in a width matched to your strap. If a customization means the strap doesn't fit our standard buckle, a buckle isn't included.
  • Quick-release springbars, if you've added them to your customization

Note: standard (non-quick-release) springbars and a strap-change springbar tool are sold separately.

Where is this strap made?
This Veblenist strap is handcrafted to order in our Chicago workshop.

How long until my order ships?
This strap is made to order, with a production time of 7–14 business days (about 2–3 weeks); more complex customizations may take longer. Rush production is available for an additional fee, depending on your timeline and specs.

How do I know which strap width to order?
Choose the strap width that matches your watch's lug width — the gap between your watch's lugs where the strap attaches. For more details, see our strap width guide.

How do I change or install the strap?
Watch straps attach to your watch's lugs with springbars. To fit a new strap, use a spring bar tool to compress one end of the bar, slot the strap between the lugs, and let the bar spring back into the lug holes — then repeat on the other side. If you've added quick-release springbars, no tool is needed: just slide the small lever to retract the bar and swap the strap by hand in seconds.

Can I use my own buckle or a deployant clasp?
Yes — choose the "Custom Buckle" option in the customization menu, and we'll ask a few questions to ensure a proper fit.

Are quick-release springbars available?
Yes — you can add quick-release springbars when you customize your strap. They come in whole sizes from 16 mm to 24 mm (no half sizes). If your strap's width falls outside 16–24 mm, we'll make the cutouts but can't include the springbars.

How do I care for my strap?
Wipe your leather strap with a soft, dry cloth and keep it away from prolonged moisture and direct heat. Condition it occasionally with a quality leather balm, and store away from direct sunlight to preserve the color.

Here’s something I would have expected you to understand: anyone spending $300 on a watch strap is buying more than a watch strap. We’re buying an experience. A story. Something we’re excited to tell people about when they ask. Well, you certainly gave me a story. After spending $300 and waiting three months—which I knew about and accepted—the strap arrived without the tool needed to install it. So I had to go on Amazon, spend another $3, and wait another three days before I could actually use it. A $300 strap. A three-month wait. And the finishing touch was having to source my own $3 installation tool. Now, when someone compliments the strap, the story won’t be about your craftsmanship or your website. It’ll be: “Thanks. It cost $300, and they couldn’t be bothered to include the $3 tool I needed to put it on.” You had three months to deliver a premium experience. You let a $3 detail define it.

Glossed Black Alligator

Store owner replied: Thank you for taking the time to write, and we’re sorry the arrival fell short of what you expected. A few points of record, offered respectfully. Your Glossed Black Alligator was a custom build, ordered on September 17 and shipped on October 19 — 22 business days, not three months. Our standard straps ship in 7–14 business days; custom builds take longer, as noted on the product page. The strap itself was $265. On the tool: we don’t include a springbar tool with any strap, and the product page says so under “What’s included?”. For anyone who doesn’t already own a proper one, we offer the Swiss-made Bergeon 6767-F — the tool watchmakers use: veblenist.com/products/bergeon-6767-f-springbar-tool. Buy it once and it will be the only springbar tool you ever need. We do understand the frustration of having everything but the one small thing you needed. Thank you for your understanding and feel free to reach out if there's anything else we can assist with. Kind regards, Team Veblenist

The strap turned out fantastic. My watch uses a unique attachment that several other strap makers weren’t able to replicate but Veblenist was able to create a completely custom piece that fits perfectly. The craftsmanship, leather, and finishing are excellent. Fantastic work and great experience. Would absolutely buy again.
