A hint of bourbon goes with any dress occasion, so it’s no surprise that the Unlined Bourbon Shell Cordovan pairs well with dress watches, helped by a smooth texture and shiny finish. But the fine leather doesn’t veer into strict formality, robust enough to feel comfortable on a chronograph or a diver.

Made to Order

Each Veblenist strap is crafted specifically for you in our Chicago workshop. Production begins only after your order is placed, so each strap is made to your chosen leather, dimensions, and specifications.

Made-to-order craftsmanship takes time and care. Please allow approximately 7–14 business days (about 2–3 weeks) for production before your order ships. More complex customizations may take additional time.

Shipping & Returns

We offer complimentary shipping on all U.S. orders, and complimentary DHL Express on international orders of $199 or more.

Standard (non-custom) straps can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery; a $20 restocking fee applies to returns, and cancellations are subject to a $20 cancellation fee.

Customized straps are crafted specifically for their future owner, and are therefore final sale.

FAQ

What's included?

  • The watch strap (both the buckle side and the adjustment-holes side)
  • A tang buckle (as shown in the product images), in a width matched to your strap. If a customization means the strap doesn't fit our standard buckle, a buckle isn't included.
  • Quick-release springbars, if you've added them to your customization

Note: standard (non-quick-release) springbars and a strap-change springbar tool are sold separately.

Where is this strap made?
This Veblenist strap is handcrafted to order in our Chicago workshop.

How long until my order ships?
This strap is made to order, with a production time of 7–14 business days (about 2–3 weeks); more complex customizations may take longer. Rush production is available for an additional fee, depending on your timeline and specs.

How do I know which strap width to order?
Choose the strap width that matches your watch's lug width — the gap between your watch's lugs where the strap attaches. For more details, see our strap width guide.

How do I change or install the strap?
Watch straps attach to your watch's lugs with springbars. To fit a new strap, use a spring bar tool to compress one end of the bar, slot the strap between the lugs, and let the bar spring back into the lug holes — then repeat on the other side. If you've added quick-release springbars, no tool is needed: just slide the small lever to retract the bar and swap the strap by hand in seconds.

Can I use my own buckle or a deployant clasp?
Yes — choose the "Custom Buckle" option in the customization menu, and we'll ask a few questions to ensure a proper fit.

Are quick-release springbars available?
Yes — you can add quick-release springbars when you customize your strap. They come in whole sizes from 16 mm to 24 mm (no half sizes). If your strap's width falls outside 16–24 mm, we'll make the cutouts but can't include the springbars.

How do I care for my strap?
Wipe your cordovan strap with a soft, dry cloth and let the natural patina develop. Avoid soaking; if caught in rain, dry it slowly away from heat. Condition sparingly with a cordovan-specific cream and buff to restore shine.

Hi Naya, The strap arrived safely! Thank you so much for all your help throughout the process. I finally put it on my IWC Mark XX, and I absolutely love it. It looks so cool, and the quality is fantastic. I’ve attached a couple of photos so you can see how it looks on the watch. Please pass my thanks along to your production team as well. They did an amazing job. I’m already thinking about ordering another strap for my vintage Omega in the future! Thanks again, and keep up the great work! Best regards, Ryu Sam

Purchased this as a gift for a friend to wear with his beloved Seiko Cocktail Time. He loves it! As a native Chicagoan it has special meaning for him. Great strap!

The cordovan strap is extremely comfortable and a pefect match for the brown dial of my Chinese watch. It really gives it a boost.

I don't know what treatment they did with it. I have never encountered such a special soft feeling in other cordovan leather. It is addictive. I highly recommend cordovan lovers to give it a try. Their workmanship is consistently exquisite and elegant.

Sooo worth the wait. Each band is made to order so it does take some patience, but the reward is worth the wait. This is the nicest leather watch band I have ever seen in my 50 years of life!!! It is soft and comfortable right out the box and looks amazing! No break in time needed, at least in my experience. I spent so many hours researching leather watch band manufacturers after buying several pricey ($90-$120) bands that were a complete disappointment. My research certainly paid off. I can’t remember the last time an item that I purchased online has exceeded my expectations by so much. Thank you so much for taking the time to make something better than anyone else. A new loyal fan of VEBLENIST!!

I had this strap made to be an everyday durable piece for a Frederique Constant Runabout GMT that would last for a decade at least, maybe more. Having received the strap, I think it will do just that, and I look forward to watching it patina. My only comment is that the Vlebenist photography tends to wash out the color of their straps vs what you get. I wonder if their photo editor uses a dark monitor profile. Ordering one strap for the long haul is more cost effective than ordering many that you might decide you don't like when they arrive, and the replacements for the ones you did like every couple years.

It's a little dark compared to my Bourbon Allen Edmonds shoe color, which I absolutely love. I had hoped that this strap would be a little more olive/cigar colored but it almost looks like it's cordovan colored. The color in the pictures is closer to my Allen Edmonds shoes than the actual strap is.

The quality and feel of the band is top-notch and is such a good investment. I purchased a cheaper watch that had a cheap band. Now with this band, the watch looks so much better and the watch looks like it could be a one-of-a-kind.

Gorgeously soft & pliable, with absolutely no break-in period; it simply moulds itself right to your wrist, with the tiniest bit of stretch that means that it fits better throughout the day than more rigid straps. The surface has that perfect waxy half-gloss thing that is such a shell cordovan signature, and I can already tell it's going to darken beautifully without losing its richness and pop. It's working perfectly on a black & white GMT right now, but I could see it going dress-casual beautifully on something in a datejust register, or even a classic gold chrono. The line stitch adds just enough ruggedness without going overboard, and the thread colour is perfectly chosen. Only two complaints, and they're minor. The first is that the soft unlined leather is clearly going to stretch slightly, which means that with a 16.5cm wrist I'm already on the second to last hole on the small size. It seems that adjusting the hole placement to the smaller end for soft unlined straps might make sense. The second, small and subjective, is that the buckles veblenist uses really don't do their straps justice. The chunky modern buckle with branding feels like a strangely cheap default compared to their incredible work in every other respect, and it really wouldn't add much to the cost to go with something a bit more classic. While I've already spent about $10 per strap on replacements, it would be much easier for them to source those themselves than to leave it to customers to sort out.
